Rummy is a skill game, and skill games are still games you can lose money at. This page is about keeping it something you enjoy.
Write both down if you need to. A limit you set in advance is a decision made by a calm person. A limit you set mid-session is a negotiation with someone who is losing.
Skill games are more dangerous than pure chance games in one specific way: because skill genuinely matters, a losing session always has an explanation. You misread a discard. You held the wrong card. You dropped too late.
That explanation feels like a reason to keep playing — you have found the mistake, so the next hand will be different. Sometimes that is true. Often it is the story losing tells about itself.
Skill improves your results over hundreds of hands. It does not make any single session safe to chase.
Be honest with yourself about these:
One of these is worth noticing. Several together is worth acting on.
If playing is affecting your finances, your relationships, your work or your mental health, talk to someone.
Talking to a GP, a counsellor, or someone close to you is a real option and often the easiest first move.
You do not have to manage it alone, and you do not have to fix it for them. The services above support family members too. Protecting your own finances is reasonable, not disloyal.
Online money games are regulated under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, with rules in force since April 2026. What is permitted depends on the format, the operator's status, and your state.
